We build on a modern and evolving stack with Node, Typescript, React, Postgres, Heroku and more. We leverage new technologies as needed. We deploy to production several times a day, and our pipelines allow us to easily understand the impact of our work. We emphasize strong unit test suites to support the safety of deploying new features and refactoring code as it evolves. We share the responsibilities for each step of the product development while allowing individuals to focus on what they do best.
About the role:
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking a VP of Engineering to ensure that the product vision is realized through excellence in execution. As a key member of the engineering organization and management team, you will have the opportunity to shape our team's practices and footprint, down to the smallest details. We seek a candidate that possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and is excited by the challenges that come along with building a disruptive business.
Responsibilities:
Team management:
Lead the team through management and mentorship; Build a high–performance culture that rewards results, and is optimized for retention and productivity.
Scale the team by partnering with People Ops to recruit top talent.
Process management:
Maintain high–velocity output from the tech team in the face of increasing scale and complexity; Plan and lead engineering sprints; bring to bear the right balance of process and flexibility; measure what matters and drive improvements in quality, velocity, and impact; Ensure our internal engineering practices are appropriate for our scale, and maximizing our productivity; Rapidly identify, communicate, and resolve priority issues across multiple teams, leaders, and business stakeholders; Manage tech team, strategic vendors and technology partner relationships.
Strategic management:
Co–develop a technology strategy with the CTO and product leaders that allows engineers to make great decisions and balances paying down tech debt, building for scale, and shipping new functionality; Be a liaison and work across all departments to set clear priorities while balancing the long–term and immediate deliverables.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Masters degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant field.
8 years of experience in the Engineering field with 3 years of experience leading engineering teams to success.
Demonstrated ability as an individual contributor that gave you firsthand insights into the practical nature of developing software.
Demonstrated ability as an engineering leader that resulted in a highly productive team.
Demonstrated ability to grow, develop, and retain top engineering talent as well as recruit new hires.
Modern understanding of industry trends and best practices.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience with products where data was a high priority; Experience leading a geographically distributed engineering team (not outsourced); Previous experience in an engineering leadership role within a highly regulated industry, ideally FinTech or other financial services.
