4A is a 22 bedded Cardiac surgical ward that predominantly cares for patients having cardiac surgery, both pre and post operatively. The ward has recently developed an Enhanced Recovery pathway for cardiac surgical patients in collaboration with critical care.
As the Ward Manager you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Nursing care on the wards. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient centred care, lead and support the ward nursing team whilst driving continuous improvement in clinical practice.
Main duties of the job The post holder will hold responsibility for the ward team with support from the Matron and Senior Nurse. They will ensure that they lead and manage the ward so that safe, high quality, evidence-based nursing care is delivered to patients whilst respecting and involving families and carers.
The post holder will be the clinical expert and act as a professional resource to the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
They will ensure adherence to Trust policies and procedures.
The post holder will provide effective leadership and management by acting as a role model, having a clear vision, supporting the development of the team, whilst promoting a positive image of the clinical area.
The post holder will be required to manage resources efficiently and effectively ensuring that high quality care is maintained.
They will contribute to the delivery of the organisation's objectives and the Nursing Strategy working collaboratively with the Senior nursing teams and Divisional managers.
