Are you passionate to improve children and young people's experience and care through dynamic leadership? This is a great opportunity to develop the future of children's services at Sandwell and West Birmingham Trust. This is an exciting time for us as we move into our new acute hospital: Midland Metropolitan University Hospital.

We are delighted to announce we are looking to recruit an exceptional Paediatric Ward Manager to be part of our existing forward-thinking Senior Paediatric Nurse Leadership team.

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual who is passionate about quality-driven care for children and young people. The successful candidate demonstrates a commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and an approach to leadership reflective of our Trust Values of Ambition, Respect, Compassion.

You will be expected to use your expert clinical knowledge, alongside your management and leadership skills, to enhance the experience of children, young people, and families, and seek opportunities to engage with colleagues to embed a positive practice environment.

If you are enthusiastic, ambitious, and have transformational leadership skills in order to support our exciting vision, please do contact us for more information or an informal discussion.

Main duties of the job The paediatric unit offers a unique environment for nursing professionals to develop their paediatric experience across a range of areas, including Inpatients, HDU Critical Care Level 2, Paediatric Assessment Unit, and outpatients including surgery and day case interventions. As an integrated organisation, our acute paediatric team works in close collaboration with our community children's nursing teams inclusive of our virtual ward team who are Nursing Times award nominees.

You will be responsible for the daily clinical, operational, and quality management of outpatient and day case paediatric clinical areas, providing professional development of staff within that area. You will provide support to all staff within the paediatric unit and will work in partnership with all multi-disciplinary teams.

About us Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWBT) is an integrated care organisation with a budget of approximately £600 million and over 7,000 staff. Diversity and social care is at the core of what we do as the Trust provides Community and Acute Services to over half a million people in an urban centre that demands massive regeneration and has substantial premature mortality.

Our new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), opens this year and will provide care to our local population from first-class, purpose-built premises. As a result, the base of this role may change to MMUH. If this is applicable to your role, you will be informed during the recruitment process and continue your application with this understanding. The development of the new hospital will play an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.

We have three strategic objectives: Our People - to cultivate and sustain happy, productive, and engaged staff Our Patients - to be good or outstanding in everything we do Our Population - to work seamlessly with our partners to improve lives

Job description Job responsibilities You will be responsible for providing compassionate leadership and professional development for nursing and support workers within the service and will work with the other paediatric senior nurses to develop best practice and ensure that there is consistency across the paediatric unit.

In collaboration with the senior nursing team and acute Paediatric Matron, you will provide senior nursing leadership for the unit including some weekend working.
