Due to the recent promotion of the ward manager, an exciting opportunity has arisen in Acute Medicine for a substantive ward manager to oversee the Acute Medical Unit.

AMU comprises of 38 inpatient beds with the addition of an outpatient Same Day Emergency Care area. We are committed to continuously improving and adapting the ways in which we work to deliver the best care and services for our patients.

We are looking for a Ward Manager to provide leadership, motivation, enthusiasm, and be a role model providing high standards of care and driving the nursing agenda with a keen interest in the care of the acute medical patient.

Excellent communication skills are essential for this role as you will be required to work closely with the senior and junior medical team alongside other professionals from the MDT.

You should be an experienced senior nurse looking to progress your career in leadership. You should be caring, enthusiastic, committed, and flexible in delivering a safe and effective service for our patients.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for ensuring the effective management of the ward or department over the 24-hour period. They will provide clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing team.

They will supervise the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care ensuring that nursing and corporate standards are maintained and measured.

Education/Qualifications

Essential

RGN 1st Level with current NMC Registration. ENB 998 (or equivalent) Current Mentor.

Desirable

Nursing related degree. Management qualification.

Significant post-registration experience with a demonstrable period of working successfully as a leader. Experience of professional development.

Desirable

Previous management experience.
