Ward Manager - Darwin Centre:

We are seeking talented and experienced registered nurses who are keen to progress their career and feel that they have the potential management and leadership capability demanded by the role of Ward Manager.

The Darwin Centre embraces a whole team approach to delivering a therapeutic service for younger people from the age of 12 - 18 years.

It will be a great opportunity for an inspiring individual that wants to enhance their knowledge and skills within a young person inpatient setting.

Main duties of the job

Provide management and clinical leadership to the multi-disciplinary team to ensure care is delivered which is person centred and meets standards for Quality and Safety, in partnership with service users and carers.

Job description

Job responsibilities

1. Management and clinical responsibility for the unit in the absence of the Team Manager, through ensuring processes are in place for the delivery of safe, compassionate care in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.

2. To provide strong clinical leadership as well as work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team.

3. Lead a multi-disciplinary team of staff in the delivery of high quality evidence based practice, ensuring that regular supervision and appraisal takes place.

4. Ensure systems are in place to manage administrative and operational resources in a cost-effective manner, evaluating the standard of service delivered.

5. Co-ordinate multidisciplinary working, maintaining excellent communication and working relationships with all team members, to ensure effective interface and continuity of care between disciplines and services.

6. Role model best practice, where appropriate undertaking clinical procedures to a standard that ensures safe and effective care, and complies with the relevant Code of Conduct or relevant professional bodies.

7. Management of clinical care on the unit, ensuring that clinical pathways and Trust values underpin the practice and delivery of care on the unit.

8. To work within and across professional and organisational boundaries to deliver integrated, individualised and expert care and leading communication with all stakeholders.

9. Contribute to the site management roster for the Trust over the 7 day 24 hour period. The nature of the Service and the philosophy of the team will require the post holder to work flexible hours.

10. The post holder will work alongside and deputise for the Team Manager when required. To support with the day to day management, quality and performance of the service.

11.Demonstrate highly developed clinical skills and act as clinical advisor and educator to junior staff.

A registered RMN/RNLD with a degree in nursing, social work or occupational therapy or equivalent experience
