Our Ward/PACU areas provide patient-focused, high-quality care to patients in the pre & post-operative phase of their treatment. The Day Surgery Unit at Harrogate District Hospital is an outstanding, ACSA accredited department that offers a bespoke training package for all new starters. With fantastic career progression and the unique opportunity for both practitioners and nurses to work across the Ward and PACU. The successful candidate will be supported to thrive in a department that caters for multiple specialities across both adult and paediatric services. We are seeking highly motivated ODPs / Nurses to join our near fully established team. You will need to be a Registered Nurse or ODP, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must also be prepared to have a flexible approach to duties to meet the needs of the service. Main duties of the job

Admitting patients and preparing them for theatre. First stage recovery takes place in the post anaesthetic care unit, this includes airway management. Second stage recovery takes place in the ward area. Receive handover of the patient and commence post operative care. Perform nurse led discharges. The successful candidate will be expected to work in both the PACU and ward area in day surgery. Competency-based training will be provided in both areas. Working for our organisation

Qualifications

NMC/HCPC registration Ability to provide holistic care to patients. Excellent verbal and communication skills. Ability to organise own workload. Evidence of ongoing professional development. Previous experience as a PACU practitioner. Previous experience on a ward. Previous paediatric experience. Evidence of competency in a range of clinical skills. I.V. Drug administration. Cannulation. Paediatric immediate life support trained. Employer certification / accreditation badges
