To provide management and ownership support of existing warehouse technologies along with project management support for associated equipment deployments. Working within a hybrid and flexible model based at our Head office in Swindon with depot visits as required. About the Role

Management of a small pre-existing field-based support team, ensuring uptime targets are met and planned maintenance schedules are adhered to with any critical failures addressed to agreed SLAs. Responsibility for existing estate of rugged mobile handsets, along with their administration via MDM (Mobile Device Management) and/or EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management). Includes specification, recommendation and roll out of planned replacement programmes. Account management for current and future vendor partners which supply and underpin usage of the aforementioned areas of responsibility. Key Responsibilities

To undertake day to day management of the field-based team supporting 34 depots nationally. Responsibility for the uptime management of warehouse technologies including pick by light systems, returns sortation, thermal printing solutions, etc. Management tools maintaining & configuring c. 1,000 rugged mobile computers. External relationship management with key operational technology suppliers & manufacturers. Team leadership. Account management. Proven proficiency in warehouse automation solutions. Enterprise mobility experience. Project management (including deployments). Comfortable communicating at all levels within an organisation, including cross-functional projects and presentations to director-level. Able to articulate complex solutions in a clear and concise manner. Self-motivated and used to working autonomously. Problem solver with good analytic capabilities. Desirable Skills

Experience of working in Transport & Logistics/3PL sector. Understanding of modern Business Intelligence tools. End to end specification, recommendation & delivery of warehouse solutions. Use of Transport Management Planning, Routing and Delivery Systems. Working knowledge of database structures and interrogation. Proficient in Excel. Smiths News is the UK's largest news wholesaler.
