WASTE SUPPORT ADVISOR OVERVIEW The Programme and Project Partners (PPP) model was mobilised in 2019 with the purpose of transforming major project delivery at the Sellafield nuclear site. The partnership brings together KBR, Amentum, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, Altrad Babcock and Sellafield Ltd to deliver a 20-year pipeline of major infrastructure projects to support the decommissioning of Sellafield and to create a clean and safe environment for the future. KBR’s rapidly growing nuclear team of teams is working at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear space on some of the most exciting new-build, defence and decommissioning programmes. Responsibilities: Providing expertise and guidance, ensuring continuous improvement to waste and environmental performance, and contributing to pre-contract, work-winning and audit activities through the implementation of the business unit strategy in line with relevant standards and client expectations. Delivering waste and environmental advice and guidance at all levels to minimise risk to the company and assist with the development and implementation of the environmental elements of the integrated management system (IMS), including the production of documents to maintain the ISO14001 certification. Leading and undertaking inspections, audits and investigations; carrying out leadership tours and raising reports on findings/observations; implementing lessons learned and improvements; reviewing compliance with management systems, waste and environmental management plans and legislation via internal audits and supporting external audits. Supporting the team of assistants and advisors, monitoring and reviewing performance in line with company processes to deliver current and future requirements, and identifying and promoting best practice across the business unit. Maintaining current working knowledge of relevant legislation and industry practice, providing input to the corporate strategy and local and business unit action plans to ensure compliance. Providing day-to-day advice and guidance on waste disposal issues, including safe, suitable and secure areas for waste storage. Carrying out and participating in waste stream audits and observations, identifying improvements as required, and acting promptly on non-compliance issues. Qualifications, Training and Technical Knowledge: Educated to a high standard or equivalent in a relevant subject matter. Recognised internal auditing qualifications. Understanding of corporate strategy, values and objectives. Knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System and its implementation. Attended and obtained suitably qualified and experienced person status in: SG0036 - Plant Solid Waste Consignors Database MG0033 - Waste Consigning, Processing and the Waste Management System (PSWC Workbook) S0505F - Waste Handler Training EL0004 - Assurance Framework S09984 - Managing Hazardous Substances EL0093 - Safe Management of Waste S02241 - IOSH Working Safely Waste Smart Advanced Level Attributes and Skills: Ability to work in a team environment contributing across a project, site or area. Good supervision skills, with the ability to motivate self and small teams to perform specific tasks. Good planning and time management skills. Ability to contribute to meeting standards and specifications. Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team. Sound knowledge of construction practices and standards within their subject.
