The Fairtrade Foundation is recruiting for a Website and Email Marketing Manager to join our growing digital team and play a key role in advancing our mission to make trade fairer. The Website and Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for all of the Fairtrade Foundation’s (FTF) website and email marketing communications, reporting to the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, as a peer to the Social Media Manager and Content Production Manager. The Fairtrade Digital Marketing team is a part of the FTF Marketing team within the Communications and Advocacy Directorate. You’ll need to be an expert in website and email communications, with experience in creating effective content targeted at multiple audiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to use digital marketing strategies to tell the Fairtrade story, increase awareness of the Fairtrade brand and movement, and drive engagement with Fairtrade consumers, commercial partners, industry, policy-makers, and donors. This individual will work closely with key stakeholders across the communications and advocacy directorate (e.g. B2B & Partner marketing, Campaigns, Media and Policy teams) and the wider organisation (e.g. Supply chain, Partnership Development, Programmes and Evidence and Insights teams) to distill and communicate key messages about the Fairtrade Foundation across our website and email communications. If you have experience of working within the charity sector that’s great, but it’s not essential. Role Purpose We're looking for a dynamic Website and Email Marketing Manager to join our growing digital team and play a key role in advancing our mission to make trade fairer. The Website and Email Marketing Manager will be responsible for all of the Fairtrade Foundation’s (FTF) website and email marketing communications, reporting to the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, as a peer to the Social Media Manager and Content Production Manager. Key responsibilities and accountabilities The role will be responsible for developing and executing website and email communications, aligned to the Fairtrade Foundation’s annual marketing plans. The successful candidate will support the Senior Digital Marketing Manager with an exciting new project to migrate to a global website platform as well as the ongoing management of the Fairtrade Foundation’s website, optimising user experience, and leading our email marketing plans. This individual will work closely with key stakeholders across the communications and advocacy directorate (e.g. B2B & Partner marketing, Campaigns, Media and Policy teams) and the wider organisation (e.g. Supply chain, Partnership Development, Programmes and Evidence and Insights teams) to distill and communicate key messages about the Fairtrade Foundation across our website and email communications.
Deliverables in this role Website Management & Optimisation Support the Senior Digital Marketing Manager with the migration of the Fairtrade Foundation to a new Global website platform managed by Fairtrade International, including a thorough content audit of the current website to inform a refreshed User Experience (UX). After the migration is complete, oversee the ongoing day-to-day management of the Fairtrade Foundation website, ensuring content is accurate, relevant, and up-to-date. Lead ongoing website optimisation to improve user experience, conversion rates, and engagement, including SEO and UX best practices. Ensure the website is accessible, mobile-friendly, and in line with current digital trends and best practices. Email Marketing Develop and execute email marketing campaigns to engage Fairtrade supporters, partners, and donors, with a focus on growing our subscriber list and improving engagement. Segment email lists to deliver targeted and personalised content to various audiences. Create compelling email content, including newsletters, supporter stewardship communications and actions, and educational content on Fairtrade’s impact with farmers and workers. Test, analyse and optimize email campaigns to ensure maximum performance, including open rates, click-through rates, and conversion. Maintain an email marketing calendar and ensure timely delivery of campaigns. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with a range of key internal teams to align digital efforts with wider marketing and organisational goals. Collaborate with the Brand and Creative teams to ensure the brand voice and visual identity are consistent across all website and email communications. Provide recommendations and insights based on data analysis to support key marketing and advocacy initiatives. Reporting & Analytics Monitor website performance using Google Analytics and other tools, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for website traffic, email campaign performance, and digital engagement. Use data-driven insights to refine and adjust strategies and tactics for continuous improvement.
Person specification Experience & Qualifications
Essential: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in website management, email marketing, or digital marketing. Proficient with Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress, Drupal). Strong knowledge of email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp, HubSpot, Salesforce Marketing Cloud). Experience with Google Analytics, SEO tools (e.g., SEMrush, Moz), and basic HTML/CSS. Demonstrable experience in developing and executing successful email marketing campaigns. Strong understanding of digital marketing best practices, especially related to user experience, SEO, and conversion optimization. Ability to create compelling content for diverse audiences, with a strong focus on storytelling and engaging digital users. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with a keen eye for detail. Proficient in tracking, analysing, and reporting on digital metrics, and making data-driven decisions.
Desired: Experience working within a charity environment. A professional qualification or evidence in marketing.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential: Passion for social justice, sustainability and Fairtrade’s mission. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects at once. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with various stakeholders.
Desired: Experience with CRM platforms and automation tools (e.g. Salesforce, Pardot). Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and practices.
