We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate

Welfare Rights Advisor

to join our charity. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of welfare rights and the ability to support individuals in navigating complex systems. This role requires excellent communication skills, both in English and, preferably in Welsh. The Welfare Rights Advisor will play a crucial role in empowering individuals by providing accurate information and guidance regarding their legal rights and entitlements. To assess client's entitlement to Welfare Benefits by investigating their circumstances in relation to Welfare Benefit Legislation in order to maximise their benefit entitlement. To assist in keeping an up-to-date library of reference material and information relating to Welfare Benefits and interpretations of legislation to provide maximum access to benefit information for staff, volunteers and clients. Alongside other staff and volunteers to participate when necessary in local activities to ensure the services offered by the Benefit Advice Shop are effectively promoted. To participate in all staff meetings. To work in the main office dealing with clients either by telephone or in person by undertaking Welfare Benefit entitlements, completing Welfare Benefit claims and claim forms, challenging negative Welfare Benefit decisions. When necessary to attend outreaches to assist clients. When necessary to attend home visits to clients unable to attend the office. When required to assist the Appeals Officer with Social Security Appeal Tribunals. Full training will be given. To attend training courses both internally and externally. To assure strict confidentiality of all documents relating to the Benefit Advice Shop and to comply with Benefit Advice Shop policies and procedures. Any other duties within reason which fall within the scope of the post and are agreed by the post holder, the Manager and the Board of Trustees. Working conditions
