The Opportunity: Our client, a highly regarded Legal 500 firm with a longstanding reputation for delivering exceptional client service, is seeking a Head of Private Client to lead their Wills & Probate team. You’ll inherit a well-established department handling high-value, complex matters for HNW individuals, families, and business owners. This is a rare opportunity to shape and grow a highly successful team, drive strategy, and elevate the department to new heights while working alongside some of the most talented legal minds in the industry. Your Role: As Head of Private Client, you will: Lead and develop a team of experienced solicitors, associates, and support staff. Manage a diverse and high-quality caseload of wills, trusts, probate, and estate planning, with a focus on complex, high value matters. Act as a key client contact, building lasting relationships with high-net-worth clients and trusted advisors. Drive the growth of the department by developing business, strengthening the firm’s profile, and identifying new opportunities. Collaborate with other department heads to ensure a seamless and integrated client service. About You: To excel in this role, you will need: A minimum of 8 years PQE in Private Client law, with significant expertise in wills, trusts, and probate. You will be a UK qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive. You will be a Senior Associate ready to take your next move into leadership, or a current Private Client Partner or Head of Department. Proven leadership experience or a demonstrable ability to mentor and inspire a team. Strong technical knowledge, particularly in complex estate planning and international matters. Exceptional client relationship skills, with a commercial mindset and strategic vision. A STEP qualification (preferred but not essential).
