Wind Tunnel Operations Engineer . Working as part of the Wind Tunnel Operations group, you will undertake a range of projects and activities to provide technical support to our brand-new, state-of-the-art wind tunnel. Your primary role will be providing operational and first-line support to the wind tunnel and its associated systems. You will be an integral part of the team responsible for the smooth technical operation of the facility. Along with the operation and maintenance of the facility, you will also be responsible for: Routine checks and calibration of Wind Tunnel model instrumentation, pre and post Wind Tunnel session and during model builds. Assemble, operate and maintain bench test rigs for system checking both on and off model. Assemble, operate, maintain and repair R&D test and calibration rigs and equipment. Assemble, install, help diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems within the Wind Tunnel, on the model and R&D test rigs. Record data and document experimental methods, configurations, and procedures. Collate tunnel metrics to report on tunnel health and efficiency. Assist with stock control and spares inventory record keeping. Support to the PIV engineers and the smooth running of the PIV system. Support to the systems and data engineers with analysis and recording of data. The successful candidate should have previous experience in one or more of the following: Wind Tunnel systems and aerodynamic testing. Other high-level motorsport or automotive research and testing environments. Mechanical Engineering. Electrical or Electronic Engineering. Systems Engineering. Fitting, maintenance or calibration of test or measurement equipment. Previous experience with wiring harnesses and electronic components, along with data acquisition software knowledge would be a significant advantage. The ideal applicant must possess excellent practical and technical skills which can be applied to a range of equipment types, from heavy plant to sensitive instrumentation, a strong background in engineering, as well as being able to communicate effectively to a variety of people and the ability to work under considerable pressure. In addition, they must be able to follow detailed instructions, both written and verbal, and work methodically, showing good record keeping and IT skills. The role demands a flexible approach to working hours including shift work and occasional weekends.
