£45k – 55k per year + bonus + benefits Job Description: Our client, a leading organisation in the global insurance space, has an exciting opportunity to join their team on a permanent basis, working closely alongside fellow engineers in the UK and overseas. The Windows Vulnerability Management Engineer will be responsible for remediation and support of distributed computing systems with reference to vulnerabilities and patching. You will work closely with application management, application development, and other IT teams to support vulnerability reduction of Windows Server infrastructure (both physical and virtual). Role responsibilities: Ensure the global stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the systems and infrastructure that support core organizational functions. Conduct research on new and emerging technologies for practical application to business problems and strategic initiatives. Provide direct global technical support for all requirements in developing strategy, planning, coordination, scripting, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to our distributed computing environment. Participate in several small to medium-scale projects and/or tasks of various complexities across the enterprise. Skills required: Installing and supporting Windows Servers including 2016, 2019, Clustering, 2022, Virtual and Physical. Working with and troubleshooting Windows. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field. Experience with BigFix for Apache. Experience with Nutanix HCI. Experience using ServiceNow ITIL managed processes. Strong experience with PowerShell Scripting. Some exposure to Python and Ansible. Installing and supporting VMware. Managing IaaS and PaaS in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS. In-depth knowledge of server technologies employed, hardware, O/S, and related tools and applications. Expert technical diagnostic and research skills of servers and expert troubleshooting. In-depth knowledge of networking components and services such as TCP/IP protocols, DHCP and DNS technologies, and LAN/WAN topologies and transports. Ability to correctly assess risks of various alternatives and take appropriate actions to restore services in the event of system outages. Ability to explain the technical implications of various alternative solutions to management.
