Wire and Cable Manufacturing Technician Wallsend Permanent 31,500 per annum An experienced manufacturing technician is required for a growing engineering company in Wallsend offering a great salary and benefits for someone experienced in wire and cable manufacturing. Primary Responsibilities: Manufacture wires, cables, harnesses, and wiring looms to support electrical system builds, ensuring adherence to correct sequences, specifications, and Health & Safety regulations. Utilise manual tools and automated machines to produce wires, cables, harnesses, and wiring looms, following precise build instructions, wiring schedules, and drawings. Maintain high-quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Assist Electrical Technicians with panel wiring of small, accurate components under supervision as required. Execute assigned tasks in alignment with the Production Master Production Schedule (MPS). Participate in and initiate continuous improvement activities to enhance manufacturing processes. Perform routine maintenance on wire manufacturing machines. Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to create wiring schedules based on existing products. Core Competencies and Skills: High competency in wire and cable manufacturing, trained to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards or equivalent. Skilled in the use of crimping tools and cable assembly hand tools. Familiarity with a wide range of electrical connectors, including Molex, Deutsch, and D-Type connectors. Proficient in basic data processing using Microsoft Excel. Experienced in soldering for wiring and PCB manufacturing. Awareness of assembly requirements for electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies, with experience in stripping, crimping, and terminating various cables, including umbilicals. Strong ability to meet deadlines and production schedules. Team-oriented with a proactive mindset and a flexible approach to work. Health and safety conscious, with a willingness to learn and adapt. Qualifications and Experience: HNC qualification or equivalent industry experience. Previous experience working in a continuous improvement environment.
