Everything we see and touch has been influenced by data; and as we progress into a digital era of automation, the need to use data to its fullest potential is more important than ever. So, what is Data Science? It's firstly the ability to take data and understand it. Then process this data, extract the value from it, and visualise and communicate this. Airlines are complex, everchanging and data rich, which means that our industry provides one of the most varied and interesting places for analytics professionals to work. Problems like determining the best mix of aircraft to buy for the next 20 years, or how to set the pricing strategy for our flights, require you to generate creative solutions. Discover the world of Data Science at British Airways! Our 2 week Work Experience Placement at Heathrow Head Office offers students aged 16-18 a unique opportunity to explore data science operations within a dynamic Aviation industry setting. Develop essential skills, work alongside our experts, and get involved in exciting project work! Apply now for our July 2024 Placement (15th-26th)! About you

At British Airways, we look out for your potential and attitude, rather than your experience. We can provide the training and help you develop your skills and knowledge, but you need to have that get up and go, positive attitude that we're looking for in the airline industry. We are looking for students currently enrolled in full time education at Sixth Form / College, with a strong interest in a career within the Data Science industry. You will have keen problem-solving skills, with a willingness to learn! When we're looking at applications for Work Experience, we want to see these qualities come through in your answers: Professional and positive attitude Passionate about the airline and our business Good communication skills Strong organisation and prioritization Whats in it for you?

Your journey continues... Our Inspire Student Ambassador Programme invites students who have completed Work Experience Placements at British Airways to apply for the Ambassador role and further develop their confidence, work readiness and employability skills. After completing a summer training course, our ambassadors represent us at school activities and British Airways events. The transferable skills and knowledge developed from this programme give students their second step into an aviation career. With many of our former work experience students going on to progress to the ambassador programme and then to full-time employment with us, it's the natural next step in your dream aviation career journey!
