About the role To support and deputise for the Engineering Manager to manage all aspects of engineering performance in the depot, including fleet and environmental management, delivering excellent customer experience, while managing a governance agenda that supports legislative and policy compliance. You will do task preparation: all jobs will be prepared in detail (including durations) so that we have clarity on workload. You will plan and estimate working times. You will work with the Training function to ensure that engineering teams are competently trained, and to achieve agreed establishment requirements. You will develop and use standards (technical publications) to make sure jobs are carried out consistently and efficiently. You will perform regular audits to confirm compliance with legislative and company standards. You will deliver agreed performance improvement plans and engineering costs within budget. About you You must have a Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent, City & Guilds in mechanical or electrical engineering. Fully conversant with the safe operation of workshop equipment. Proven knowledge of relevant legislation concerning HS&E, maintenance of HGV or PSVs, Road Safety etc. Necessary IT and Computer skills such as SAP, MS Office etc. Working knowledge of DVSA Legislations and Categorisation of Defects. Proven leadership skills are essential to provide strategic and day-to-day direction to your team. Capacity to manage and commute between multi-site operations, providing cover when required.
