Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP. The successful candidate will be based in Central Youth Club in the Kensington Fairfield area of the city and work directly with children and young people who attend the centre to take part in the youth and play offer. As a youth worker at the centre, you will build positive and trusting relationships with children and young people and will work in a bespoke person-centred way in order to get the very best outcomes for them. You will be responsible for developing, planning, and facilitating the youth provision with the support of a part-time evening staff team and volunteers, for whom you will have line management responsibility. You will work with the centre manager and management committee to identify opportunities for young people to access, including possible funding to expand the work. You will facilitate children and young people's voice in the centre to ensure the provision offered meets their needs and encourages their development through new opportunities. As required, you will advocate for children and young people with fellow professionals and ensure they are safeguarded at all times. Children and young people do not live in isolation, so as an advocate for the best outcomes for them, you will work with parents and carers to facilitate participation and access to opportunities. You will work in a flexible way to accommodate the needs of the project and, as such, will be required to work several evenings a week to facilitate the youth club. Depending on the programme you offer, this may also require some weekend work. You will have an excellent understanding of issues facing young people and will be expected to assess individual needs and record interventions in a timely way.
