THE ROLE: JOB TITLE : Youth Engagement Officer CONTRACT : Full time, Fixed Term (2 Years) BASE : The Playhouse, 5-7 Artillery Street, Derry-Londonderry. With flexibility for hybrid working to be negotiated. REPORTING INTO : Producer KEY RELATIONSHIPS : Director, Producer, Education Officer, Arts & Peacemaking Manager, Community Relations Officers, Climate Action Officers and Assistant Curator, Technical Manager, Visitor Experience Manager and other internal team members (CEO, Development, Finance, Visitors Experience and Facilities Teams) HOURS : 37.5 Hours SALARY : £26-29K BENEFITS : Contribution Pension, Flexible working policy, 37 days Annual Leave which includes Bank Holidays, Staff Wellbeing Programme to include social activities, Training and development, and discounted tickets to performances. ABOUT THE ROLE: The Youth Engagement Officer is key to ensuring that all The Playhouse’s youth activity champions inclusion, equity and creative innovation, with BRIDGE and the Open Arts Pathway funded by BBC Children in Need. The role is responsible for coordinating youth programmes of varying scale and complexity off site and in our historic building. We are looking for someone who is passionate about nurturing diverse young people’s creativity and increasing performance arts experiences. You will be learner-focused with a high level of emotional intelligence and empathy and have a highly organised, collaborative approach that makes you an excellent team player. You will understand the value of systems to support delivery and best practice and be competent and familiar with Child Protection, Health & Safety, GDPR and Safeguarding procedures and legislation. The Youth Engagement Officer reports to the Producer and is a key member of the Producing Team led by the Creative Director at The Playhouse. As a role contributing across the breadth of outputs: performing arts, access and inclusion and working with young people and partners from diverse circumstances, we are open to welcoming a candidate with the relevant key skills, ability and desire to learn the full scope of the position as necessary.
