Youth Justice Practitioner - London Borough of Hackney - Up to £27 per hour Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? If so, the London Borough of Hackney is looking for a dynamic and committed Youth Justice Practitioner to join our team. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work with young people, their families, and the wider community to prevent offending and re-offending. About the Role: As a Youth Justice Practitioner, you will be responsible for: Case Management: Managing a caseload of young people involved in the youth justice system, conducting assessments, developing and implementing intervention plans tailored to individual needs. Risk Assessment & Management: Identifying and assessing risk factors associated with offending behaviour and developing strategies to mitigate these risks. Court Representation: Preparing reports for court, attending court hearings, and advocating for the best interests of young people. Partnership Working: Collaborating with a range of agencies, including social services, education, health, and the police, to provide holistic support to young people and their families. Intervention Delivery: Delivering a range of evidence-based interventions, both individually and in group settings, addressing issues such as substance misuse, anger management, and pro-social skills development. Family Support: Engaging with families to provide support and guidance, promoting positive family relationships and addressing any underlying issues that may contribute to offending behaviour. Community Engagement: Working within the community to promote positive opportunities for young people and reduce the stigma associated with youth offending. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice guidelines. About You: Essential: A relevant professional qualification (e.g., Social Work, Youth Work, Probation, Psychology, Criminology) or equivalent experience in a related field. Essential: Demonstrable experience of working with young people, preferably within the youth justice system. Essential: A strong understanding of relevant legislation and guidance relating to youth justice. Essential: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and engagement skills. Essential: Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Essential: Commitment to promoting equality and diversity. Desirable: Experience of delivering specific interventions (e.g., CBT, Motivational Interviewing). Desirable: Knowledge of the local Hackney community.
