Zest Group Volunteer Health Care Assistants

Do you have experience of working in a health care environment? Could you help with our Zest Group that supports young adults? Our Zest Group supports Young Adults taking part in a variety of different activities throughout the month. These include Zest Days (every Friday 10.00 – 5.00), Tuesday evening X-Change Group (first Tuesday of the month 16:00 – 20:30), Saturday Family drop-in (monthly 13:30 – 17:00), and Short Break weekends. We are now looking for volunteer HCAs to support our Zest Group primarily at weekends (Saturdays/Sundays) for Short Breaks, assisting staff with activities either based at the hospice or on trips out. Our volunteer HCAs will work under the direction of a supervisor/mentor from the nursing team to provide assistance with the care, hygiene, toileting, nutrition, mobilisation, rest, and comfort needs of patients, enabling and promoting patients' independence where appropriate. All volunteers will receive training to support them in their role. St Elizabeth Hospice has a volunteer mileage/expenses policy which allows volunteers to claim expenses and mileage incurred whilst carrying out their role for the hospice.
