1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant focuses on providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs throughout the school day.
What the role involves
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Special Educational Needs throughout the school day.
- Supporting a child with needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH or communication difficulties.
- Implementing strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement.
- Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver tailored support.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and participation in classroom activities.
- Building a positive, trusting relationship to support the pupil's academic, social and emotional development.
Skills and requirements
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN/SEND, ideally in a 1:1 setting.
