The 1:1 SEND Support Assistant (Psychology Graduates) position centres on we’re working with a primary school near Heaton, Newcastle, who is looking for a SEND Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with Autism. It would suit someone who can bring supporting learners through a calm, structured classroom routine to the role.
Role overview
Working 1:1 throughout the school day, supporting the pupil with learning, routines, and emotional regulation. Supporting the class teacher and wider classroom when needed, like a general TA, while keeping your main focus on the pupil.
Main responsibilities
We’re working with a primary school near Heaton, Newcastle, who is looking for a SEND Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 1 pupil with Autism. Helping the child manage sensory overload and anxiety using calming strategies and structured support.

Requirements
- A psychology background OR experience supporting children/adults with Autism.
