Accounts & Payroll Assistant
Sunderland
Hybrid working + study support (if required)

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Accounts & Payroll Assistant will be responsible for all aspects of the weekly payroll along with providing effective and accurate support across the wider Finance team.

The successful candidate will have strong proven experience in payroll processing including a good understanding of relevant legislation, along with 2+ years working within an accounts environment.

Key duties: 

  • Processing weekly payroll and all associated payroll admin tasks
  • Assisting in the production of month end accounts
  • Preparing and processing journals
  • Cashflow forecasting
  • Monthly balance sheet reconciliation
  • VAT returns
  • Supporting the FD and Finance Manager with financial reporting
  • Ad-hoc duties as requested by management
  • Person specification:

  • At least 2 years working within an accounting role
  • Proven experience in payroll processing including knowledge of payroll legislation
  • Strong systems skills including Excel and SD Worx (desirable)
  • Educated to GCSE level incl. Maths & English
  • Strong communication and organisation skills
