Assistant Farm Manager
Assistant Farm Manager focuses on working closely with the farm manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the unit, ensuring high standards of bird welfare, biosecurity, and production performance.
What the role involves
- Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the unit, ensuring high standards of bird welfare, biosecurity, and production performance.
- Assisting with daily operation of the broiler unit, including feeding, watering, ventilation, and lighting systems.
- Monitoring environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, air quality) to ensure optimal bird growth and welfare.
- Conduct daily flock inspections to monitor bird health and behaviour, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Supporting vaccination schedules and medication programmes, maintaining high animal welfare standards.
- Maintaining strict biosecurity and hygiene procedures, including cleaning, disinfection, site access, and pest control.
Skills and requirements
- This is an excellent opportunity for someone with poultry or livestock experience to develop their career within a well-run commercial farm environment.
- All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for.
- Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
