Autism Support Worker

Care Assistant focuses on providing 1:1 and small group support for students with autism (asc/asd).

What the role involves

• Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism (ASC/ASD).
• Helping students build independence, confidence and life skills.
• Supporting pupils with communication, sensory and emotional regulation needs.
• Implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plans.
• Use structured approaches including visual timetables, routines and reinforcement strategies.
• Supporting behaviour using calm, consistent and proactive de-escalation techniques.

Skills and requirements

• Experience working with children or young people with Autism (ASC/ASD) or SEND.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Passion for inclusion, SEND and improving outcomes for young people.
• Supportive SEN school environment in Colchester.

Confirmed role details

• This is a full-time role supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis, helping them access learning.
• £ - £120 per day (depending on experience).
