Primary School Pastoral & SEMH Support focuses on deliver structured 1:1 mentoring and small group sessions to develop confidence, resilience, social skills, and emotional regulation.

What the role involves

• Deliver structured 1:1 mentoring and small group sessions to develop confidence, resilience, social skills, and emotional regulation.
• Reactive support: Offer immediate support during behavioural incidents, helping pupils manage emotions.
• Providing 1:1 mentoring to pupils needing additional behavioural or emotional support.
• Supporting pupils in classrooms to maintain focus, engagement, and positive behaviour.
• Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to implement individual behaviour support plans.
• Upholding safeguarding policies and professional boundaries at all times.

Skills and requirements

• Experience supporting children with behavioural or emotional challenges.
• Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and equality.
• Previous Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant experience in primary schools.
• Experience delivering 1:1 or small group interventions.

Confirmed role details

• £90–£125 per day (dependent on experience).
• Full-time, term-time, long-term.

Additional role context

• Primary School (Reception–Year 6).
• As a Behaviour Mentor, you will provide guidance and structured support to pupils struggling with behaviour, emotional regulation, or engagement in learning.
• Children you support may have SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, ADHD, anxiety, low self-esteem, or difficulties forming positive peer relationships.
