Behaviour Mentor — SEMH & Inclusion Support (North London) focuses on providing structured one-to-one mentoring sessions to pupils identified as requiring behavioural or emotional support.

What the role involves

  • Providing structured one-to-one mentoring sessions to pupils identified as requiring behavioural or emotional support.
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, anxiety, and attachment difficulties.
  • Implementing behaviour support plans, positive handling strategies, and individual risk assessments.
  • Supporting pupils during lessons to promote focus, engagement, and appropriate behaviour.
  • Working proactively to de-escalate challenging situations using restorative and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Supporting pupils during unstructured times such as break, lunch, transitions, and arrival/departure.

Skills and requirements

  • All applicants must be willing to undergo enhanced DBS checks.

Candidate fit

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.
  • The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils who may be disengaged or resistant.
