What the role involves

• Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant focuses on supporting students with semh needs on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing.
• Assisting the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
• Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner.
• Encouraging emotional regulation and social development.
• Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom.

Skills and requirements

• Relevant teaching, classroom, childcare, QTS, SEN, safeguarding, or early-years experience may be required.

Candidate fit

• Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour.
