Care Assistant focuses on supporting individuals to develop independent living skills (e.g. cooking, budgeting, personal care, travel training).

What the role involves

  • Supporting individuals to develop independent living skills (e.g. cooking, budgeting, personal care, travel training).
  • Provide emotional support and encouragement to maintain positive mental health and wellbeing.
  • Supporting individuals to access the community, education, employment, and social opportunities.
  • Assisting with personal care where required, in a respectful and dignified manner.
  • Supporting with medication in line with training and policies.
  • Follow and implement person-centred support plans and risk assessments.

Skills and requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred care.
  • Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care (Level 2 or 3).
