What the role involves

  • Supporting children and young people with their daily routines, including personal care where required.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships.
  • Promote safe behaviours and help manage challenges in line with care plans.
  • Maintaining appropriate boundaries, structure, and consistency.
  • Supporting education, hobbies, and social development activities.
  • Contribute to care plans, reports, and reviews with accurate record-keeping.

Skills and requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people in a caring or support role.
  • Understanding of child development and emotional needs.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, including risks such as exploitation, self-harm, and domestic challenges.
  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Children & Young People (or willingness to work towards this).
