Civil Engineer focuses on authoring, assessing, maintaining, and managing design substantiation documents.
What the role involves
- Authoring, assessing, maintaining, and managing design substantiation documents.
- Presenting substantiations to nuclear safety committees.
- Developing EIMT schedules, operating procedures, and safety documentation (including Periodic Safety Reviews).
- Providing technical guidance to stakeholders and producing ITA/IPR scopes. Applying engineering expertise to design.
- Maintain systems in high-risk environments.
- Reviewing contractor submissions, calculations, and technical documents.
Skills and requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience assessing reinforced concrete and steel structures under static and dynamic loading.
- Ability to produce clear, robust technical justifications for design changes.
- Strong civil/structural engineering knowledge applied to existing and emerging technologies.
- Experience supporting multi-disciplinary projects.
