College Accountant focuses on leading all statutory financial reporting, regulatory returns, and external audit processes, ensuring the highest standards of governance and compliance.

What the role involves

• Leading all statutory financial reporting, regulatory returns, and external audit processes, ensuring the highest standards of governance and compliance.
• Overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring in collaboration with senior academic and administrative leaders.
• Deliver financial analysis and reporting for the Investment Committee.
• Managing relationships with external investment managers.
• Overseeing treasury management, taxation (including VAT, corporation tax, and payroll taxes), insurance arrangements, and financial risk frameworks.
• Improving financial systems, processes, and reporting to strengthen internal controls.

Skills and requirements

• Act as Deputy to the Bursar, providing executive oversight of finance, governance, and operational matters when required.
• A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Significant experience in senior financial leadership, ideally within the charity, higher education, or public sector environment.
