Cover Teacher focuses on supervise whole-class learning during teacher absences.

What the role involves

• Supervise whole-class learning during teacher absences.
• Delivering pre-planned lessons across a variety of secondary subjects.
• Maintaining strong classroom behaviour management and positive learning environments.
• Supporting students with classwork, engagement, and lesson participation.
• Encourage student progress, confidence, and independent learning.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding student behaviour and attainment.

Skills and requirements

• Confident managing classroom behaviour and leading groups of young people.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• A passion for education, student wellbeing, and supporting young people’s development.
• Previous experience working with young people, schools, sports coaching, tutoring, mentoring, or youth work is desirable but not essential.
