About The Role

Design Coordinator - Permanent Opportunity
Division: Civil Engineering Location: Various, UK Wide opportunities BENEFITS: Car allowance, Pension, Subsidised Private Medical Cover, Life Assurance Scheme, Car Allowance 

We are seeking a Design Coordinator to join us in the GRAHAM Civil Engineering business. You would play a crucial role in supporting the Design Manager in managing and coordinating the design process throughout the lifecycle of projects within Civil Engineering.

This is a fantastic opportunity to take a role within the engineering department, where you can expect full training and support, as you pursue career development.

We are looking to speak with candidates who have a relevant Civil Engineering Degree. Candidates should also posses excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the business.

Expected duties for the Design Coordinator:

  • Quality Control: Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of design and construction, within company protocols and compliant with ISO
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including control documents, approvals, reports and meeting minutes.
  • Problem Solving: Address and resolve any design-related issues that arise during the design and construction process.
  • Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant building codes, regulations, contractual, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate Design Activities: Manage and oversee all design-related activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Liaise with Stakeholders: Act as the primary point of contact between the design team, clients, and contractors, facilitating clear and effective communication. Providing input into programmes where required, including tender, design, construction, and Variation / Compensation Event programmes.
  • Review and Approve Designs: Evaluate design proposals, drawings, and specifications to ensure they meet project requirements and standards, and to raise technical queries accordingly.
    • This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Design Coordinator and the range of duties to be undertaken.   • A relevant Civil Engineering degree would be preferred
  • Site based experience would be highly advantageous Skills
  • Possess a sound understanding of engineering principles and application.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in management software - Viewpoint knowledge would be highly advantageous. Knowledge of construction techniques and construction engineering.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Awareness of commercial issues relating to construction contracts.
