Skills and requirements

  • Candidates with experience within the field of Domestic Abuse and willingness to undertake specialist training.
  • Candidates who can demonstrate knowledge of trauma-informed approaches, including vicarious trauma, adverse childhood experiences, and whole-person support.
  • Candidates who can demonstrate a good understanding of the criminal and civil justice systems, including knowledge of remedies available to victims of domestic abuse.
  • An awareness of the challenges faced by diverse communities, including barriers to accessing services, cultural awareness and experience supporting these groups to engage effective.

Confirmed role details

  • This is a full-time role, but we would consider two applicants sharing it as a part-time/job-share position.
  • 30 hours per week covering weekend & weekday including evening shifts.

Additional role context

  • S will work alongside an established Force Control Room Independent Domestic Abuse Advocate (IDVA).
  • These posts are offered on a fixed-term basis until 31 March 2027.
  • Raneem’s Law is a set of new measures introduced by the Government in 2024, in response to the murder of Raneem Oudeh and her mother, Khaola Saleem.
