Job Description

We are seeking an Engineering Lead based in our London office, offering a flexible combination of in-office and remote work. As an integral part of our mission, you will lead a team dedicated to optimizing and launching new products, building the most convenient and scalable onboarding experience for Brazilian people and business in compliant way with local regulatory guidelines.

We are enabling customers to onboard Wise conveniently without any unnecessary friction. We make sure that we only ask information that is easy to provide, and effectively helps us combat fincrime. Automating information collection and review will make the onboarding experience of customers quicker, and help us scale our operation with the growing number of customers. 

Here’s how you’ll be contributing to the Brazil Team:

  • You’ll integrate with several local partners and government institutions to power our onboarding experience.

  • You’ll manage an infrastructure that enables Wise to comply with local regulatory requirements.

  • You’ll multiply Wise’s growth rate by unlocking core functionality through the power of APIs and cross-border payments infrastructure - in short, the products you build will help Wise reach consumers and small businesses wherever they are managing their money in global environments.

  • You'll lead, coach and grow a team, as well as shape the technical vision.

  • You’ll own onboarding, verification and reporting flows and improve the customer experience.

  • You’ll scale a best in class product across Brazil while ensuring the learnings you have in-market are shared back with our other global regions.

  • As an  engineering lead , you will be responsible for the quality of your team’s technical solutions, including code quality, architecture applicability, performance, reliability and adherence to company-wide engineering standards.

  • As a  people manager , you will be responsible for your team's productivity, goal setting, career path identification, mentoring and supporting people in your team. Also you’ll make sure the team has the right size and mix of profiles. Decide when to hire. Think about the team organization and evolve the team when needed.

  • You’ve  built and designed scalable and performing systems

  • You have experience  building integrations  with external partners

  • You have experience with  microservices architecture, asynchronous message queues  and SQL databases

  • You are still hands on with coding , and enjoy getting your hands dirty

  • Nice to have:

  • You’ve worked with Java/Kotlin, preferably with Spring Boot

  • Experience with financial systems integrations
