Environmental & Gas Operative focuses on autonomy to manage your own diary and workload with home working.

What the role involves

• Autonomy to manage your own diary and workload with home working.
• Undertake environmental monitoring, data interpretation and reporting in accordance with the site permit and Biffa instructions.
• Undertake gas field monitoring, balancing and maintenance.
• Managing the landfill gas compound to ensure that power generation is maximised.
• Undertake all duties in accordance with Health and Safety policies, guidance notes and training.
• Work closely with and collaborate with landfill operational colleagues.

Skills and requirements

• Able to travel, may be asked to stay away from home on rare occasions.
• Driving is a large part of the role, you will sometimes be required to drive to more than one site in a day.
• Happy to lone work – Some of our closed sites are unattended.
• Expected to work in all weathers – A large part of the role is working outside.

Additional role context

• Monday to Friday working pattern, with on call rota of 1 day in 10.
• £30 on call allowance, plus time and a half overtime if called out.
• 42 hours per week as standard, with regular overtime available.
