Forklift Driver
We’re looking for a reliable, safety‑minded Forklift Driver to join our client’s busy Works & Recycling Services team. If you enjoy hands‑on work, take pride in keeping operations running smoothly, and thrive in an environment where no two days are the same, this could be the role for you.
What you’ll be doing
Operating a forklift truck to load, move and manage recyclable materials, waste and other stock, ensuring tidy and organised stockpiles
Receiving deliveries of bins and storing them safely and appropriately
Emptying food stillages into the closed skip, washing and disinfecting stillages, and clearing spillages in the process hall using manual tools
Operating balers, sorting equipment and conveyor lines in line with safety procedures
Helping maintain a clean, safe and legally compliant depot environment
Carrying out daily routine checks and basic maintenance on plant and machinery
Following all statutory requirements, Council policies and health & safety procedures — including correct PPE use and reporting concerns promptly
Taking part in performance management, training and development activities
Supporting wider depot operations as part of a flexible, collaborative team
Maintaining awareness of traffic management requirements and ensuring safe vehicle movements on site What we’re looking for
A valid forklift licence and experience operating a forklift in a busy environment
Someone who is safety‑conscious, proactive and able to work independently
A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to take on varied tasks
Good awareness of manual handling and safe working practices Details
Hours: 08:00–16:00, Monday to Friday (including one Saturday following a Bank Holiday)
Rate: £13.26 per hour on PAYE Accrued plus £1.60 per hour holiday pay equates to £14.48 per hour on PAYE Advanced
