Graduate SEMH Teaching Assistant
Job description
The Teaching Assistant position centres on supporting pupils with SEMH needs, promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience and self‑regulation. It would suit someone who can bring warm, steady communication with children and families to the role.
How the role is set up
Pupils are supported through adapted learning approaches that focus on consistency, emotional regulation, communication and positive relationships. Providing 1:1 and small‑group support based on individual EHCP targets.
Where someone would start
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, promoting emotional wellbeing, resilience and self‑regulation. Supporting pupils during periods of regulated and dysregulated behaviour, using positive behaviour and de‑escalation techniques. Adapting learning activities to meet sensory, cognitive, emotional and communication needs.
What is expected
- Long-term, full-time positions across a variety of schools.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH.
- In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
