HGV Driver / Highway Maintenance Operative

The HGV Driver position centres on preparing written returns including fault report details. It would suit someone who can bring careful technical judgement and practical problem-solving to the role.

Where the work sits

The North West Trunk Road Unit spans some 1,422km of trunk road through some of the most scenic parts of the country. Previous experience as a roadworker is desirable, however training can be provided.

How the role works day to day

Preparing written returns including fault report details. Winter maintenance duties which include fitting gritter body and blade, driving gritter and spread salt by hand if required. Winter maintenance rota during the winter months driving our state-of-the-art snow ploughs, when conditions dictate.

Practical details

• Full Time / Permanent, 40 Hours per week, Monday – Friday, OT & On Call Rota.
• We manage and maintain over 2,000km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
• We have vacancies for HGV Drivers / Highway Maintenance Operatives to join our existing operations team.
• While this is an HGV Driver role, in quieter months the successful candidate will be assisting the Operations team with the duties below.

What needs to be in place

• Knowledge of the requirement for Health and Safety rules and procedures.
• There is a requirement to undertake training and to achieve competence in aspects of the job.
• Holding tickets for plant, traffic management, and Health and Safety an advantage.
