Overview

:

First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an HGV Mechanic on behalf of our client based in Kings Lynn.

This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to join a well-established transport and logistics company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles, ensuring all maintenance, inspections, and repairs are carried out efficiently and to the highest standard.

Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel, although all candidates will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out servicing, inspections, and repairs on HGVs in line with DVSA standards.
  • Conduct 6-weekly PMIs, MOT preparations, and brake tests.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults using the latest diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic, electrical, engine, gearbox, and braking systems.
  • Complete defect reports and ensure timely, cost-effective maintenance.
  • Carry out small repairs on light plant equipment when required.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate with senior management on vehicle availability, costs, and incidents.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and efficiently within given timescales.
  • Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of DVSA regulations and inspection standards.
  • Competent in the use of diagnostic tools and modern vehicle systems.
  • Experience with a range of manufacturers and hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence (required).
