Higher Level Teaching Assistant focuses on delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher.

What the role involves

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the teacher.
  • Supporting classroom teaching and learning across KS1–KS4 (depending on setting).
  • Leading small group interventions to support pupil progress.
  • Assisting with planning and preparation of learning activities.
  • Provide feedback to teachers on pupil performance and engagement.
  • Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs.

Skills and requirements

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience (desirable).
  • Previous experience working in a school setting (essential).
  • Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • Access to free CPD and safeguarding training.
