Incident Support Unit Operative focuses on carry out safety/debris patrols, identify and make safe defects on the carriageway.

What the role involves

  • Carry out safety/debris patrols, identify and make safe defects on the carriageway.
  • Carry out tasks to clear incidents from the Highway as instructed by Network Control Centre, ISU Lead Operative or Incident Support Supervisor.
  • Undertake Highway Maintenance activities including but not limited to litter picking, vegetation management, and emergency repair of potholes and boundary fence.
  • Inspect drainage infrastructure and remove debris as required.
  • Maintaining visibility of marker posts and other signage on a regular basis in line with planned activities.
  • Reporting any defects found on the network through to the Network Control Centre at the earliest opportunity.

Skills and requirements

  • We are unable to offer or provide sponsorship for this position.
  • You must be willing to undertake a DBS check if you are successful.

Confirmed role details

  • 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts in a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Candidate fit

  • Green CSCS FISS (or above) qualification card (or working towards).
  • HGV category C licence (or working towards).
  • City and Guilds Winter maintenance qualification (or working towards).
