What the role involves
- Maintaining responsibility for a caseload of allocated children and young people as their named Independent Reviewing Officer.
- Ensure children's wishes, feelings, and lived experiences are central to all review discussions.
- Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge where care plans, interventions, or professional actions are not achieving positive outcomes.
- Act as a key liaison point between Children's Services and partner organisations involved in care planning.
- Supporting the development of policies, procedures, and practice guidance relating to looked after children.
Skills and requirements
- Professional Social Work qualification (BA Social Work, MA Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
- Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.
- Registration with the Social Work England.
- Extensive experience working with looked after children, child protection, safeguarding.
