Lead Protection and Control Project Engineer focuses on provide protection and control engineering support across multiple transmission projects, defining technical scope requirements during development and evaluating third-party detail.
What the role involves
- Provide protection and control engineering support across multiple transmission projects, defining technical scope requirements during development and evaluating third-party detail.
- Leading the assessment of panel designs, scheme designs, and system integration for both new build and retrofit applications.
- Configure protection and control systems in line with application and scheme requirements, including calculation and preparation of protection settings.
- Review and adjudicate Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) conducted by third-party contractors.
- Supporting project teams in identifying, managing, and mitigating engineering risks , while also identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
- Ensure outputs are delivered to programme , maintaining high engineering standards and quality.
Skills and requirements
- Minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Strong, demonstrable experience in transmission protection and control engineering , including.
- Experience in either scheme design, protection settings, or ideally both.
- Proven ability to critically assess engineering problems and evaluate multiple technical solutions.
Confirmed role details
- Home-based (remote working available).
- 12 months initial.
- Rate: Up to £950 per day (PAYE/Umbrella – flexible for the right candidate).
- Play a key role in developing and delivering a growing portfolio of transmission projects that support Net Zero targets.
