Linux Systems Engineer focuses on however, the role is also part a global linux team and will work very closely with us colleagues to ensure all work is done in a globally consistent manner.

What the role involves

  • However, the role is also part a global Linux team and will work very closely with US colleagues to ensure all work is done in a globally consistent manner.
  • All operational duties both first and second line including working shift hours between 7am-6pm.
  • All systems administration tasks on the Linux estate.
  • Hardware administration of Linux servers.
  • Administer storage solutions for both production, archive and corporate systems.
  • Maintaining and enhance monitoring & management tools.

Skills and requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of Linux, particularly RHEL.
  • Experience of working practices required for a mission critical, zero downtime environment.
  • Strong scripting skills with the ability to automate monitoring and management.
  • Experience of configuration management (Salt build RPMs, deploy updates).

Candidate fit

  • Technical judgement, safe working habits, careful diagnostics, and practical problem-solving.

Additional role context

  • Be a member of the London infrastructure team that is responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting Linux and storage systems.
  • The primary responsibility is for London based systems.
