Salary from £36,000, depending on experienceAdditional share of service charge and tips (paid monthly)Full time, permanent position 40 hours a week over 5 working days and might involve weekends if needed with occasional 'on call' shifts8 hour shifts, flexible hours in line with business needsManage and carry out maintenance tasks reported by hotel management and staffUndertake Duty Manager responsibilitiesEnsure all assigned areas, including storage spaces and workshops, are kept clean, safe, and well maintainedCarry out general maintenance of all on-site equipmentRespond effectively under pressure and within strict time constraintsUndertake general building maintenance, including painting and decorating, minor carpentry repairs, and basic external worksCommunicate issues, risks, and ongoing maintenance needs to the Hotel Manager in a timely mannerCarry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a scheduled basisMaintain awareness of property safety procedures, including first aid and fire and emergency protocols, and ensure safe operation of all equipmentComplete Health & Safety checks, including fire alarm testingAdhere strictly to all Health & Safety policies and procedures at all timesWork effectively as part of a small team and collaborate with wider departments to support smooth operational deliveryUndertake additional duties as reasonably requested by hotel managementQualifications
As well as having previous experience in a similar role, you will hold relevant trade-based qualifications in general maintenance disciplines such as plumbing, electrical or joinery. You will be confident working independently without close supervision and demonstrate strong ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload effectively.
A proactive, can-do attitude is essential, along with adaptability and agility in responding to a range of maintenance requests and operational needs. You will be proficient in IT systems for building and maintenance controls, including app-based platforms for logging, tracking, and managing tasks.
You will ideally hold a NEBOSH qualification or be willing to work towards one. Experience in writing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and undertaking risk assessments is also required. Experience working within listed buildings would be highly advantageous.
