Mechanical Engineer focuses on delivering mechanical building services design across projects from concept through to construction and handover.

What the role involves

  • Delivering mechanical building services design across projects from concept through to construction and handover.
  • Preparing calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings for HVAC, domestic water, drainage, and associated systems.
  • Supporting senior engineers with detailed design development and coordination.
  • Coordinating designs with electrical, public health, structural and architectural teams.
  • Assist with site inspections.
  • Respond to technical queries during construction.

Skills and requirements

  • Attend design team meetings, client workshops, and site meetings as required.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • 3–5 years’ experience within a building services consultancy or contractor design environment.
  • Working knowledge of UK Building Regulations, British Standards and CIBSE guidance.

Candidate fit

  • Continue professional development and actively work towards Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent).

Additional role context

  • Sustainable design.
  • Undertake mechanical design using industry software ( IES, Hevp, AutoCAD/Revit).
  • A solid understanding of mechanical building services systems, including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, domestic water and drainage.
