Location: South Shields
Pay: £95 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-Time/ Part-time, Long Term/ Day-to-day

Are you a Mental Health Support Worker who can provide the care and consistency students need to thrive?

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and reliable Mental Health Support Worker to work in a supportive school in South Shields. This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated person who is passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work closely with students who may experience anxiety, behavioural challenges, or emotional difficulties. The successful Mental Health Support Worker will provide consistent support, build positive relationships, and help students feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as a Mental Health Support Worker supporting students with SEMH needs
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support
  • Help students manage emotions and behaviour
  • Support engagement in lessons and daily routines
  • Act as a positive role model and trusted adult
  • Work closely with teachers and pastoral teams

Requirements:

  • Experience working as a Mental Health Support Worker, support worker, or similar role
  • Understanding of mental health and behaviour support
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An up-to-date CV covering the last ten years (with any gaps explained)
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply
