Network Bridges Manager focuses on supporting the operating company’s representative to ensure delivery of the director’s requirements.

What the role involves

  • Supporting the Operating Company’s Representative to ensure delivery of the Director’s requirements.
  • Act as the main point of liaison with Transport Scotland, ensuring compliance with the Network Management Contract.
  • Collaborate with the Planned Maintenance and Operations Managers to ensure structural requirements are fully integrated into maintenance planning and delivery.
  • Overseeing the outline and detailed design of bridge maintenance schemes, including technical approval and certification.
  • Ensure compliance with technical standards, or manage submissions for Departures from Standard where required.
  • Lead tender evaluations through to contract award.

Skills and requirements

  • Educated to degree level in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • A full approved UK driving licence.
  • Pension scheme with up to 6% employer match.

  • Maintain over 2,00km of Scotland’s trunk road network, tackling just about every imaginable task and working round the clock to help keep Scotland moving.
  • BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland manage over 750 structures as part of the South East trunk road network which includes a number of complex bridges.
  • Design, procurement, and delivery of bridge maintenance schemes across a diverse portfolio of over 850 structures.
